About

The Michigan Public Employer Labor Relations Association (MPELRA) is a nonprofit corporation organized to promote the development and maintenance of professional representation of public employers in all phases of labor and employee relations.

Michigan led the nation in establishing the first Public Employer Labor Relations Association in 1969. MPELRA has since developed into an active and essential forum for public employer representatives responsible for collective bargaining to discuss issues and to assist with the formulation of sound policies and procedures for collective bargaining.

The membership is composed of novice and experienced management representatives, attorneys and consultants from every area of public concern including municipalities, education, health care, libraries, and various governmental authorities.

The MPELRA Bylaws provide that general membership is open to any person whose preponderant duties are to represent the interest of a governmental employer or a nonprofit employer engaged primarily in providing service to the public.
